本论文以现代沉积学与储层沉积学的新理论、新观点、新方法为指导，以犍为地区嘉陵江组为重点研究对象，通过9口基干井的单井岩石学特征、沉积相的分析，阐述了犍为地区嘉陵江组的沉积格局以及主要的沉积相类型与特征，识别出了四种不同类型的亚相，并分别建立了沉积相模式；在单井沉积相分析的基础上，通过三条连井剖面沉积相的对比研究，阐明了犍为地区嘉陵江组沉积相的纵向与横向发育规律。
